pptest_build_instructions - check build_instructions.py’s own real pipeline
pptest_build_instructions
[--kicad-cli CMD] [--quiet]
pptest_build_instructions
{--help|--version}
pptest_build_instructions is this project’s own real verification tool for build_instructions.py: it checks component-type classification, hole naming, far-leg resolution (against real, already-rendered placement data, not a synthetic fixture), both ordering strategies, correct handling of a real circuit with genuinely unplaced components, and all four output formatters — against this project’s own real, already-established test circuits.
Needs kicad-cli(1) (unlike pptest_breadboard_config(1)): this exercises the full real pipeline, netlist through render through instructions, the same real dependency pptest_netlist(1) has.
Run this after any change to build_instructions.py itself, or to render.py’s own p.passive_far_xy exposure. It is also what make check runs as part of this project’s own real test suite.
--kicad-cli CMD
The kicad-cli(1) command to use. Default: the KICAD_CLI environment variable if set, else kicad-cli on PATH.
--version
Show this project’s own current version (read from VERSION) and exit.
--quiet
Suppress the section header lines. Every [ok]/[FAIL] check result, and the final summary, are still printed — this silences routine narration only, never a real result.
